FAQs
How do I book a session with you?
You are welcome to call me at (315) 882-7274 or email me by navigating to my website’s “contact” tab and writing me a short note, letting me know a little bit about the type of support you’re seeking.
How should I prepare for a therapy session?
Please bring any questions or reservations about beginning therapy to our initial phone consultation. This is an opportunity for you to interview me and get a sense of whether working together might be a good fit for you.
Does online therapy really work?
The choice to work with a psychologist in person or online is a personal one. However, in my experience online sessions work well and make it possible for patients to find a therapist who is a good fit, independent of geographic location.
How long can I expect to be in therapy? How frequently should we meet?
The frequency and duration of therapy varies from person to person. For some people, periodic sessions are supportive and sufficient. Others may be interested in more intensive and/or longer-term therapeutic support. In general, if someone is interested in trauma therapy, for example, I recommend weekly sessions initially.
Will my therapy sessions be confidential?
Sessions are confidential, except in specific situations.
I am required by my regulatory body’s code of ethics to maintain patient confidentiality except where there is written consent or danger to self or others. I also have a duty to report incidences of the sexual or physical abuse of a child to authorities.
Do you work with children?
No, I work exclusively with adults (18+).
Do you work with couples?
I do not offer couples therapy. However, if I am working with an individual who would benefit from this, I can offer referrals.
Can I receive insurance coverage for working with you?
If you have behavioral health insurance, sessions with me, as a psychologist, should be covered, and I will bill your insurance provider directly. Any co-pays must be paid at the time of our session. Please note that it is your responsibility to resolve any issues with your insurance provider.
